This area has a team specialized in infrastructure, construction, financing, concessions, natural resources, regulatory, administrative and environmental matters, which supports customers in all stages of project development, from the public bidding process or structuring of the private initiative to the operation thereof.
Larrain y Asociados has extensive experience advising energy infrastructure projects (oil and gas, hydro and thermoelectric, wind energy, photovoltaic, biomass and other renewable energy), mining, highway, hospital, services and telecommunications, port and airport, industrial, housing and hotel. In addition, the firm has extensive experience in all types of contracts necessary for the development, construction, commissioning and operation of a project, including EPC, EPCM, BOP, TSA, BOT and BOOT.
The firm advises local and international clients, including sponsors, local and international financiers, multilateral credit entities, export credit financing entities, private equity funds, private and institutional investors and state entities, among others.
Advice to Empresa Nacional de Petróleo (ENAP) in an international and competitive process of strategic partnership for the development in Chile of two power generation projects of approximately 1,200 MW of installed capacity, in which 16 consortiums submitted offers and was awarded to Mitsui & Co. The work included drafting the relevant request for proposal, advising on the transaction documents, reviewing the relevant offers and drafting final versions of the agreements, among other matters.
Advise to BHP Billiton on its tender process for the closing of a long-term agreement (30 + years) with a port operator and a railroad company in the area of Mejillones, in the north of Chile, in order to export the copper concentrate produced by the future expansion of Spence project. Also, since 2014 the firm counsel the company on the international tender process for securing water supply for the SGO (Spence Growth Option) Mine Project, consistent of a 1.000 m3/second desalination plant, a conveyance system of approximately 154 km connecting the plant with the mine site and the necessary electric transmission facilities.
We advised Albemarle Limitada, on the negotiation and drafting of two power purchase agreements with Engie Energía Chile for obtaining the supply of electricity to its chemical plant in La Negra, Antofagasta, and also to allow its litium plant in Salar de Atacama receive energy supply from the Chilean electricity system, on a private bidding process for the construction and operation of such asset.
