Larrain y Asociados is a leader in this area of law, with a complete command of the laws and regulations that govern the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity, transportation and distribution of gas. The firm has represented national and foreign clients in development activities, construction, operation and financing of hydroelectric generation, thermoelectric (gas. coal and oil), solar plants, wind farms, biomass and geothermal energy: in projects of electricity transmission, gas storage and regasification and in gas pipeline projects.
We have advised on privatization of state companies, acquisition, alienation and liquidation of energy generation and transmission companies. Likewise, we have advised different clients in their relationship with authorities and in administrative and judicial processes, before the panel of experts and the ordinary courts of justice, arbitration and protection of free competition.
Advise GNL Quintero S.A., a British Gas subsidiary, developer of the first LNG terminal in the Southern Hemisphere, set up to provide liquefied natural gas in the Central and Southern Grid of Chile. Our team works in the corporate structuring, the preparation and negotiation of LNG supply and sale contracts (SPAs and GSAs), in the implementation of the international project finance for US$1.1 billions and in the negotiation of EPC contracts for the main plant and the truck loading station, negotiation of PPAs and negotiation of gas transportation agreements. Chosen by "Project Finance International" as "the Oil and Gas Deal of the Year in the Americas for 2008".
Advised Andes Mining & Energy S.A. in the development of two photovoltaic power projects: Santiago Solar S.A. located in Til Til, near Santiago, with a capacity of 120 MW and Sol del Loa S.A. project of a 70 MW in the North of Chile.
Advising BHP Billiton in the development and conclusion of combined cycle natural gas project called Kelar, including the international bidding process and the financing agreements.
