Víctor Manuel Avilés joined the firm in 1998 and has been a partner since 2008. He mainly practices in the areas of energy and tax laws, specializing in tax planning for local and foreign clients.

He studied at the Faculty of Law of Universidad de Chile (LL.B.), and was admitted with maximum honors in 1997. In 2005 he obtained a Degree in Tax Law at the Universidad de Chile.

Mr. Avilés is Assistant Professor of Constitutional Law at Universidad de Chile since 1998 and is the author of "Economic Public Order and Penal Law" (Editorial ConoSur, 1998) and "Law Exclusivity in Tax Matters" (Editorial Jurídica de Chile, 2005), as well as a number of articles in specialized magazines, such as Public Rights Magazine, Journal of Law, and Jurisprudence and Leading Sentences in Libertad y Desarrollo (think-tank), among others.

He is a member of the Chilean Association of Constitutional Law and the Chilean Association of Tax Law.
